SAFE SPORTS, STRONG ATHLETES

Girl Scout Gold Award Project

Safe Sports, Strong Athletes is a campaign dedicated to promoting safety, respect, and awareness in sports. The project educated over 1,500 people through presentations, flyers, and digital resources on how to identify, prevent, and report misconduct from coaches or teammates. Inspired by her own experience as an athlete, Chloe created this initiative to empower young players to speak up, support one another, and help make sports a safe and positive space for everyone.

Athlete Statistics:

  • Suicide is the second most common cause of death among NCAA athletes.
  • 65% of athletes have experienced at least one incident of psychological harm or neglect while participating in youth sports.
  • 37% of athletes reported experiencing at least one form of physical abuse as a child in sports.
  • 14% to 29% of athletes have been victims of at least one form of sexual violence before age 18.
